Let’s be honest. Traveling is better than working. Experiences are better than things. Spending money is more enjoyable than earning money. With these ideas in mind, we sold our house and most of our possessions in 2021 to embark on a decade (or more) of travel.
Stephanie worked for over 25 years at a nationwide lawn services company. Being in the corporate world for that long is enough for anyone. Garrett was an active trial lawyer for over 25 years. Unlike most Type A personality lawyers, he managed to retire, and did so early. When not on the road we live in Memphis, Tennessee.
We do not have aspirations to visit a certain number of countries in a week, a month, or even a year. Going to an airport or train station every week or so is not our idea of fun. Cramming in every conceivable tourist destination in a city in just a few days is not for us. Life is not meant to be rushed. Our name says it all: slow travel chronicles. Ideally we will be spending a month or more in each place that we visit. Sure there will be a few weekly excursions along the way, but those will be more the exception than the rule. Our goal is to unwind, relax, enjoy and more fully immerse ourselves at every stop.
Thanks for reading, Garrett and Stephanie Estep
